Drama

Theatre visits are a frequent feature on the school calendar and it is our aim to encourage students from all key stages to take part in these to both inspire and support their cultural development and learning.

Theatre workshops with actors and practitioners are also offered as and when appropriate as is audition tuition (for university application and National Youth Theatre)

Drama and Music productions are becoming a regular feature of the Summer Term for the lower school and Annual Joint productions with Aylesbury Grammar School continue to be a magnet for talent in Years 10 and 12.

Students interested in developing their technical skills have the opportunity to join the school sound and lighting teams in the sixth form.

Year 7 pupils are invited to come along to a Thursday lunchtime Drama club taking place in the Drama Studio and run by sixth form students. All pupils require is a pair of tracksuit trousers and lots of enthusiasm.

This club has proved so popular that a Friday lunchtime session is sometimes required to accommodate the overspill.

House Drama is open to all year groups except for Year 11 and 13 students who we feel should prioritise their focus on sitting their public exams.  This takes place in the spring term when House Drama Captains are given a stimulus from which they write a script for up to eight performers from a range of years. Rehearsals take place during lunchtimes and after school. House captains should provide a rehearsal schedule well in advance to enable their cast to organise transport home.
